Where is Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach?

Amelia Island is the northernmost barrier island On Florida’s Atlantic coast. The Island is located just 15 miles east of Interstate 95 by car, using exit# 373. Vacationers may also reach Amelia Island by air via the Jacksonville International Airport, which is 30 minutes South of the Island. Private, corporate and charter aircraft may use the facilities at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, with rental cars available or shuttle service.

The elevation of the Island is 20-25 feet above average sea level. Amelia Island is 13 miles long, its width varies from 1/4 to 2 miles and it comprises 18.2 sq. miles and 11,600 acres of which 7 sq. miles lie within the city limits of Fernandina Beach.

The 1990 census recorded a population of approximately 44,000 people of which 1/3 live on Amelia Island.

The annual average mean temperature for the Island is 69.9 degrees.

Main Attractions on the Island are its golf, it’s beaches, fishing and Fort Clinch.
